Thursday 3rd May - Scottish elections

31 March 2007

Thursday 3rd May is Scottish election day. You will be voting in three different ballots:

  • One ballot to elect a constituency Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP)
  • One ballot to elect Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) for your region
  • One ballot to elect local councillors - note that, for the first time, this will be done using the 'Single Transferable Vote' system. For more information, see the Using your single transferable vote section.

Note that, if something prevents you from voting on the day, you can organise an emergency proxy vote. For more information, contact your local electoral registration office - contact details are available here.
