Election Staff Materials
Capability Scotland has produced some materials for election staff, to help you consider and deal with some of the issues faced by disabled voters. Note that not all of these measures are expensive - helpful staff and some basic planning are the most important things!
-
Access all Areas - This publication is from 2003; however, it still provides some useful tips for ensuring an accessible voting experience for disabled voters.
-
Accessibility Checklist - This is a short checklist highlighting disablility access issues. It may be useful to ensure each polling station has a copy of it.
-
The Accessibility Template - This allows you to assess the impact on disabled people of piloting new methods of voting, such as the use of electronic kiosks.
-
Disabled parking sign - You can download and print off this sign, which can be used to indicate that a parking space is reserved for use by disabled people only.
