About Vote2007

Vote2007 is here to empower you to vote. Previous research by Capability Scotland has highlighted that disabled people sometimes find it difficult to vote.

  • For people with mobility impairments, there can be access problems.

  • People with sight or hearing impairments may not be able to see the ballot papers or hear instructions from polling station staff.

  • People with learning disabilities can struggle to get information in a style that they can understand.

The good news is that, since 2000, laws have been in place which require local authorities to make it easier for disabled people to vote. For example, tactile voting devices and wheelchair-friendly voting booths should be available in every polling station. For more information, visit our virtual polling station
